Welcome to Rutherglen LTC

Rutherglen Lawn Tennis Club

A friendly, welcoming place to enjoy tennis whatever your age, level or ambition.

Located just 3 miles south east of Glasgow City Centre and benefitting from excellent public transport links, we are one of the most active and progressive Tennis Clubs in Scotland. We have 7 all-weather courts which are floodlit for year-round play. These are split across two nearby venues. We have four Artificial Grass courts located off Viewpark Drive, our home for very nearly 100 years, and 3 new Artificial Clay courts located off Burnside Road, which formerly operated as Burnside Tennis Club until they became derelict. We saved and expanded into these courts in Summer 2017 to give us the extra space we so badly needed given our rapid growth and expansion. Both venues are fully accessible.

We are big enough to offer great facilities and lots of tennis and social opportunities for everyone, but small enough to be run by members for members and retain the friendly, welcoming environment we pride ourselves on.

We offer loads of opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the wonderful game of tennis any day of the week, any day of the year, whether this is:

  • Informally, with friends and family with members having free access to 7 fantastic floodlit, all-weather courts.
  • Socially, with like-minded members through various weekly social play sessions and numerous special events throughout the year.
  • Competitively, as a member of one of our many teams that play at all levels in the West of Scotland Leagues, various Regional and National Competitions, as well as our Club Championships which take place in autumn.
  • As part of our Coaching Programme, led by the British Tennis Coach of the Year for 2016, Jonny Willcox, helping kids and grown-ups achieve their tennis ambitions.

Our commitment to provide a vibrant, high quality, affordable and welcoming club was recognised by Tennis Scotland, who awarded us the accolade of “Club of the Year” for both 2016 and 2017.

But it’s not just about tennis. We have a very active off-court social scene too, with our now-legendary Quiz Night, Grand Slam-themed tournaments, end-of-season Awards Night and many other events over the course of the year. Our adult members have access to the bar at Burnside Bowling Club offering a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at a low cost and in a pleasant setting.

Membership of RLTC affords you access to either venue anytime. There is no joining fee and membership can be paid in monthly instalments. The use of floodlights is absolutely free, with the only additional costs being coaching classes and some organised club events.

Rutherglen LTC takes the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults very seriously and strives to ensure a safe environment for everyone using either of our venues or when participating in any club programmes and/or sponsored or organised activities or events. Please visit our dedicated Safeguarding Page to meet our Welfare Officers Lesley and Moira who work together to raise the profile and standards of safeguarding at Rutherglen LTC to ensure that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and everyone should feel safe whilst using our facilities.
