Given the rapidly escalating COVID-19 situation, we’ve taken the decision to postpone our #PelotonToWimbledon fundraising expedition to 2021.
With the virus predicted to peak when we would be embarking on the ride, it would be completely reckless to continue with our plans.
Also, and much more importantly, our time and energy over the coming weeks will need to be spent looking after family, friends, neighbours, communities etc. and we must focus on this without distraction.
We’re gutted to be taking this decision, but we need to do what’s right for our families, the club and the wider community. This is going to be a bleak period for us all and we need to work together to get through it as best we can. Yes, tennis is important, but the health of our loved ones is paramount.
When things settle down we will formally launch #PelotonToWimbledon at the end of 2020 making it even bigger and better for 2021! Stay safe and healthy and look after each other.

#RLTCProject100 and in particular raising the funds to build our Overtoun Covered Courts, will be a herculean task!
We want to embark on a challenge that will raise lots of money to help deliver this project, raise its profile as high as we can to give us the best chance of success and match the ambition of the project itself.
We’ve assembled a hugely committed and clearly mad team who are going to attempt to cycle 1,000 kilometers from Rutherglen to Wimbledon, arriving for the start of play on Day 1 of the Championships on Monday 28th June 2021.
We’ll swing by our sister club Wortham LTC in Suffolk who’ll join us on the last leg into London. Each evening along the way we’ll find a bit of ground in a prominent location to set-up a mini-tennis court and give passers-by the chance to play some tennis.
We will shortly be launching a fundraising page for #PelotonToWimbledon for those who want to donate to #RLTCProject100 in this way.
More news coming soon….
We’re not afraid of hard work to achieve something amazing and we have form on this!
In June 2016 we completed Expedition #MOUNTENNIS to raise funds to save and expand into the derelict courts at Burnside Bowling Club
But we’re acutely aware that #PelotonToWimbledon will make Expedition #MOUNTENNIS look like a walk in the park and that makes us very worried indeed!
With over 1000k of cycling over 8 days, it’s safe to say us novice cyclists are a bit worried.
We’ll post our plans and update you on our progress here, so please check-back regularly.

We’re looking for support from local and national businesses not just to cover the costs of #PelotonToWimbledon, but to positively support our fundraising efforts. This can be through cash donations or provision of services in kind (equipment, supplies, logistics etc.).
Not only will they have helped a great cause, but we’ll make sure they get lots of fantastic publicity in what promises to be an amazing adventure that will capture the imagination of the British tennis community and beyond through a variety of ways including:
We have a range of sponsorship opportunities available including:
