NewsPeloton to Wimbledon Announcement

Formally Announcing Peloton to Wimbledon

We’re thrilled to finally be able to formally launch our #PelotonToWimbledon adventure to raise awareness and funds for #RLTCProject100, including our ambitious plans to build covered tennis courts in Overtoun Park as part of a vibrant community hub.
#PelotonToWimbledon will involve 11 riders cycling 724km from Rutherglen to Wimbledon over 8 days in June. We will depart from our Viewpark Courts at 12:30 on Sunday 20th June and arrive at The All England Club for the first days play of this year’s championships on Monday 28th June.
Each evening along the way we’ll find a bit of ground in a prominent location to set-up a mini-tennis court and give passers-by the chance to play some tennis.
Please visit to view our route, learn all about the brave team of riders taking on this epic journey (including some fascinating secret talents and little known facts!) and see all the wonderful sponsors who have made this all possible.
In addition to supporting #RLTCProject100, the money raised from #PelotonToWimbledon will be used to fund Breakfast Clubs at two local Primary Schools (Bankhead and St Columbkille’s) to help ensure all children get a nutritious start to their school day. These Breakfast Clubs are delivered by the Greggs Foundation and the money raised by #PelotonToWimbledon will fund these for at least the next two years.
With Wimbledon likely to be running with a significantly reduced capacity given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we’re very unlikely to get in to watch any tennis. But that’s not deterred the team. They’re just keen to publicise our project to help get it moving to benefit future generations to come. This kind of selfless contribution to our local community is who we are.
We’re confident we can complete #PelotonToWimbledon safely and comply with all COVID-19 restrictions and government guidance, avoiding having to postpone for another year. However, clearly the situation may change and if at any point it is no longer safe or appropriate to make the trip then we’ll postpone to 2022.
Big or small, we’d be hugely grateful for any donations to #PelotonToWimbledon. Not only will these help us make our #RLTCProject100 dreams come true and help school children thrive, but they’ll keep all the team motivated on those long training rides. You can sponsor the team via our donations page at
Look out for updates on our progress on our website and our usual social media platforms.
